Rooster Run Kennels specializes in producing a solid hunting companion for wingshooter enthusiasts at any level. Whether you are looking for a rock solid pointing dog, or a dependable retriever, Rooster Run will work with your pup to accomplish your needs.

The Rooster Run training processes are designed to create a positive, productive relationship between the gundog and the handler by establishing clear expectations for your pup's behavior and performance, as well as a strong bond between the two.

We customize our training to suit the developmental needs and progress of each pup while never losing site of the owners wishes. Rooster Run Kennels has worked very hard to establish a program to create a pup you can be proud of in the field, as well as at home with the family.

Basic Training Program (3 month program)
At as early as 6 months, puppies are at a level of maturity that allow them to learn and understand commands and seem to advance the fastest. This age gives you, the owner, the most "bang for the buck". Initial training will include obedience whistle training and basic hand signals. Retrievers will spend time in the duck or goose blind, while pointers will work on a solid "Whoa" command. Dogs are exposed to both land and water and a variety of birds including pigeons, chuckar, duck, and pheasant. For a pup of average ability and temperament, you can expect an obedient and reliable pup who will hunt for you in any condition.

Advanced Training Program (3 month program)
The next level after the Basic Training Program is the Advanced Training Program. This process is intended for a pup that has reached one year and has experienced a year of hunting. For retrievers, this program will work on blind retrievers, hand signals, multiple retrieves, and shore up any issues that may arise during the first year of hunting. For pointers, this program will work on many of the same issues as the retrievers. It will also include honoring, steady to shot, and stauchness at point.

Obedience Course (1 month program)
Designed specifically for companion dogs of any breed, this course teaches the pup basic obedience; heel, come, sit, stay, NO, and kennel. We also socialize your pup to other pups and people. This is considered to be the basic "good citizen" course designed to make your dog a well-mannered part of the family.

Pre-Season Tune Up (1 to 2 month program)
The tune-up curriculum is for any dog that needs tuning up before a hunting trip or season. Each dog will be evaluated and a curriculum will be determined between you and Rooster Run.

Hourly Rates
Hourly Rates are available for the individual who wants to train their dog on their own but needs some guidance or hits a roadblock during training. Each session is usually one hour long and is available by appointment.
